On paper, the concept of Monster Madness is a decent one, with a vast collection of monsters, dozens of weapons (customisable), a unique visual style and the implentation of Unreal Engine 3. Inspired by the developers love of low budget, side-splitting B-movie horror classics, Monster Madness features the likes of werewolves, skeletons, mummies, gargoyles and evil clowns, to name just a few in fact Artificial Studios have adopted every mythical and inherently evil human-being and monster they could muster and thrust them into the ghoulish bowels of this run-and-gun title! Goals don't come into the solo variant I played and those play a huge part in driving the tension in the game when played with others.Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia is a 3D top-down, hack 'n slash monster slaying fest with cartoon-styled colourful graphics, a hefty portion of tongue-in-cheek humour and a heart-thumping pace that mimics the frantic gameplay of the likes of arcade classics such as Gauntlet. I wouldn't buy it just for the solo experience unless you like the idea of just besting your high scores and doing weird strategies with the tiles. Additionally, the public goals in a 2p game are much more achievable for both players to get at least one or for one person to stop the other from getting huge point boosts.Īnyway, back to solo.

Strategically turning tiles into lakes, investing, and building basic tiles to deny the other player key tiles for their strategy was great. 2p game last night was actually really amazing. That being said, I played a 4p game and it wasn't great. I could see myself busting it out when I feel like trying a weird strategy before getting in to a game with other people. There's a bot variant I haven't tried yet. Build the best city you can and score the highest you can. If you like city builder games one of the variants will appeal to you on a scoring level. I just got this game and I played it solo.

The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified. You'll see people using bold to highlight games, that gives the opportunity to interact with /u/r2d8, a bot that can be used to grab data from BGG on games included in a post.
